Tapologo Lodge

Tapologo River Lodge is part of the private Limpopo-Lipadi Wildlife & Wilderness Reserve in the Tuli Block, Botswana. The Reserve spans 50,500 acres of varied and ecologically significant landscape rich in biodiversity, and includes 14 kilometres of Limpopo river frontage. The site is beautifully positioned on the bank of the Limpopo River, which flows to the Northern Tuli Game Reserve and Kruger National Park.

Tapologo is enveloped by riverine forest, along 175 metres of private river frontage. Limpopo-Lipadi’s low human footprint, alongside a private safari vehicle & guide, ensure a serene and memorable safari experience.

We offer a private and exclusive retreat for guests seeking a personal, immersive African bush experience. The lodge provides laidback luxury with a river facing pool, deck and private boma.

From the decks and patios, you can spot hippos wallowing and crocodiles basking, with various antelope like kudu, waterbuck, klipspringer, bushbuck & impala as well as zebra and giraffe, which pass through most mornings and evenings. Warthogs, baboons and vervet monkeys frequently visit, and on occasion, elephants can be observed crossing the river. You might even spot the elusive leopard.

The Lodge

Tapologo is a farmhouse-style lodge consisting of three ensuite bedrooms, each of which offer beautiful river views of the Limpopo. The ground floor bedroom has a free-standing bath and outside patio, with the two first floor bedrooms each boasting their own balconies. All bathrooms feature indoor and outdoor showers, each with their unique vibrant colour, with monkeys looking on whilst you enjoy the cascade of water from the outdoor shower. There is metal baboon-mesh on all sliding doors, allowing a beautiful river breeze, and opening the room up to sounds of the African bush as you fall asleep.

The welcoming, Rhodesian teak-floored entrance hall leads you to the lounge area, with its unique blend of opulent materials and sumptuous textures. The lounge features a large wood-burning stove, for comfortable warmth in the cool winter evenings whilst snuggled in the armchair with a good book. Off the lounge is a beautiful guest bathroom, and a spacious study/yoga/meditation room facing the African bush and waterholes.

A spectacular bar with double volume height provides a light and airy atmosphere, in which to gather round and share stories and memories of your adventure, over a lovely selection of wines, gins, malt whiskys and amarula. Adjacent is Tapologo’s freestanding farmhouse-style kitchen, providing a warm and relaxed setting to share delicious meals or even just to sit around, enjoying a freshly brewed coffee and homemade cake.

A magnificent sweeping staircase leads to the first floor family and media room, equipped with a 4K projector where you can play games, view your photos, enjoy a good movie or just kick back and relax. The spacious balcony overlooking Tapologo’s two waterholes offers a magnificent view over the African bush, with Lipadi Hill standing in the distance. Above the first floor, an outdoor staircase leads to a further large patio for stargazing or sleeping out at night.

Facing the Limpopo River is a cooling pool area on a magnificent river-deck, with an outside braai area and a private boma. To the front of the house the two waterholes can best be observed, with a drink of your choice, from either the lounge patio or the family room balcony.

Acacia & Molope Suites

Shaded by riverside forest, the Acacia Suite and Molope Suite are open-plan, spacious, and secluded — each designed to offer privacy and comfort, with overhead fans and woodburning stoves.

Both suites feature a large comfortable bed facing the river, with a secluded study area tucked behind. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors allow uninterrupted views of the Limpopo River, while the wide entrance doors open out to the surrounding bush. Both suites feature the same metal baboon-mesh on all sliding doors as the Main Lodge, allowing a cool river breeze and the sound of the African bush at nightfall.

The wet rooms in each suite include a free-standing bath and both indoor and outdoor showers — each shower tiled with its own vibrant colour. At the riverside of each suite, an elegant curved deck with a wood-fired hot tub offers the perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a drink as the sun sets. Private meals for two on the deck are a must.

Each suite is equipped with a fully stocked fridge, a kitchenette, room safe and radio.
